Civic, transparent, and verifiable database on Romanian politicians: political switching history, career, wealth, criminal cases, and conflict-of-interest networks.

The Challenge

Romania faces a deep political transparency crisis. Citizens lacked access to a centralized, verifiable, and fully objective source about politicians' histories — their party switching, wealth declarations, criminal files, or private conflict-of-interest networks. Existing information was scattered across public sources (Official Gazette, ANAF, court records) with no means for rapid querying or synthesis.

Azeno's Solution

Azeno built VerificaPoliticianul.ro — an independent, open-source platform on Next.js and TypeScript. It aggregates data from official public sources, implements an auto-calculated Credibility Score algorithm (mathematical average of the accuracy of profile elements verified with direct sources), allows the community to flag errors directly, and integrates a fast search engine across 82+ monitored politicians.

Each politician has a structured profile covering: Career & Education, Political Switching History, Connection Network, Wealth & Income, Company Affiliations, Criminal Files, Parliamentary Votes, and Public Statements.

Auto-Calculated Credibility Score

Algorithm calculates the mathematical average of all profile element accuracy scores: each item backed by a direct source (official document, court ruling) scores 100%; unsupported items drag the score down to 0%.

Evidence-Based Verification System (Direct Sources)

Data is marked 'Verified' only with attached direct sources: Official Gazette publications, ANI/ANAF wealth declarations, court verdicts, and documented investigative journalism.

Community Flag & Correction System

Any visitor can flag an error or missing information directly on the profile. Reports go to a secure admin panel where the team evaluates and updates the data, triggering automatic score recalculation.

Fast Search Engine & Advanced Filtering

Instant full-text search by name, party, position, or criminal case. Filter across 8 integrity categories for rapid discovery of relevant profiles.

Open Source on GitHub & Scalable Architecture
